Physical Characteristics
Temperament & Grooming Needs
Maltese puppies are a tiny bundle of cuddles, energy, and curiosity. You will love their winning personality and playful spirit! A Maltese is absolutely devoted to their family. Introduce them to your friends and extended family, while working on boundaries to allow your pup to enjoy all your company! Your Maltese puppy will be an entertaining companion well into their senior years. You can look forward to many years of snuggling and frolicking with your Maltese!
Maltese pups have a coat that is more like human hair than typical dog fur. Brush them daily to keep their beautiful coats soft and smooth. The Maltese’s coat can be trimmed short for ease of grooming or allowed to grow into a beautiful, floor length coat. Your Maltese puppy should be bathed weekly. Remember to thoroughly dry them after a bath to avoid them becoming chilled. One notable characteristic of Maltese is their tendency to get water stains on their chins and in the corners of their eyes. Every day, gently wipe their eyes with a damp warm cloth to keep the fur clean, and clean their chin throughout the day.
