With the warm weather in the forecast, the world is open for you and your pup to explore!
While the heat of summer may make you want nothing more than your air-conditioned house, your
dog’s need for exercise doesn’t stop when the weather heats up! Georgia boasts a wide range of attractions, and many of them are at their best in summer. Check our list for 5 Summer Activities with your Pup!
Water Fun at Home
A small pool, a sprinkler, even a hose…many dogs LOVE water in the summer! If your dog hasn’t been
introduced to the idea of playing in the water, try joining them in the fun! You and your pup can have an
amazing time playing together, and cool off in the process. Remember to keep a towel by the door so
you can dry your pup’s paws before you come in!
Join the Tails on Trails Club
Georgia’s State Parks have created a list of trails throughout the state that are dog friendly. Several are
near Atlanta, offering a peaceful escape from urban life in summer. Join the Tails on Trails Club and set
some hiking goals! To earn a certificate for you and your pup, complete 12 of the 42 listed trails,
completely at your own pace. There’s no deadline for finishing the 12 trails you choose, so this can be a
great annual activity with your pup as they grow!
Visit the Beach (or Pool!)
If you’ve never brought your dog to the beach, you don’t know what you’re missing! There are several
dog-friendly beaches near Atlanta, some within an hour’s drive of downtown. So grab your sunscreen,
water, and a few towels, and get ready for some fun in the sun! If a pool is more your speed, don’t miss
out on the annual Dog Splash and Luau in the Liberty Bell Pool at FDR State Park for a Dog Only swim day
at the end of the pool season in September. There’s no need to trek to the ocean for a beach day with
such amazing options near the city!

Go Camping
If you love camping, why not take your dog? Many dog owners love taking their pup into the great
outdoors for an overnight stay! Whether you choose to rent a dog-friendly cabin or pitch a tent in a
more remote setting, camping can be a wonderful way to unwind with your pup at your side. They will
love seeing the world and experiencing new smells, sights, and sounds all around you. Be sure to prepare appropriately so you and your pup have a truly incredible experience, then head out for your adventure!
Visit a local Brewery
The outdoors is lovely…but have you been to a great brewery lately? Avoid the heat at your local dog-
friendly brewery! If you want to bring your pup along to your next night out with friends, bring your
well-trained pup to some of the best breweries in town and enjoy a night of relaxation and camaraderie
with your friends.
Create Memories this Summer
Your pup is a huge part of your family, and including them in your summer plans only makes sense! This
year, a few tweaks to your planning will mean that your canine buddy can tag along to adventures that
are perfectly suited to you both! With some preparation, your pup can enjoy a safe and enjoyable
summer vacation with the whole family. Get out there and make some memories!
