Our showroom at 1848 Old Norcross Rd in Lawrenceville is about 14 to 20 miles north of Stone Mountain, depending on which side of the mountain you live on, or roughly 30 to 40 minutes without traffic. Walk in, meet small-breed puppies that our veterinarian has already checked, and find a future trail buddy sized for short legs.
Getting here from Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain covers a lot of ground, and the best route depends on where you start. Pick the one closest to home.
| Starting near | Route | About |
|---|---|---|
| The historic village (Main Street) | Silver Hill Rd, Lilburn-Stone Mountain Rd and Arcado Rd to Lawrenceville Hwy (US-29), then Bethesda School Rd, Herrington Rd and Old Norcross Rd | 14 miles, surface roads |
| Mountain Industrial Blvd area | Mountain Industrial Blvd north (it becomes Jimmy Carter Blvd) to I-85 North, exit 106 to GA-316 East, Sugarloaf Pkwy, Cruse Rd, Old Norcross Rd | 19 miles, mostly highway |
| East side, along US-78 | US-78 east to Snellville, GA-124 (Scenic Hwy) north, left on Sugarloaf Pkwy, left on Old Norcross Rd | 20 miles |
All three take roughly 30 to 40 minutes with light traffic. None of them is quick at rush hour: I-85 through Gwinnett is a heavy commuter corridor, and US-78 and Lawrenceville Highway both slow down at their many signals and shopping centers. From Stone Mountain this is a proper outing, so it helps to plan it. A weekday visit in the early afternoon, after we open at noon, is often the smoothest. On weekends we are open Saturday 12 to 7 PM and Sunday 2 to 6 PM.
Why the drive is worth it
Thirty-some minutes is a fair amount of time to spend on a puppy you have only seen online, which is exactly why it is better to see them in person. Here is what you get by coming:
- Several breeds in one room. Size, coat and energy level are easier to judge side by side than one listing at a time. If you want an easygoing companion, look at our calm puppies; for a busy household, family-friendly puppies.
- A health check already done. Our on-staff veterinarian examines every puppy, and puppies are up to date on shots.
- Puppies that know a home. Before the showroom, each puppy spends time in our family’s home nursery with children, adults and other pets.
- Come on your schedule. Walk-ins are welcome during showroom hours, and booking a visit is there if you want it.
We carry small purebred and designer-breed puppies from trusted local Georgia breeders. Check available puppies by breed before you set out.
Bringing a puppy home to Stone Mountain
DeKalb County rules, and the Gwinnett side
The City of Stone Mountain is in DeKalb County. DeKalb requires rabies vaccination as the law requires, wants owners to keep proof of it, and expects pets to be contained or leashed, never roaming. Pet registration with DeKalb County is due within 60 days of a rabies vaccination or of getting a new pet that needs one. Your veterinarian will tell you when the rabies shot is due.
A Stone Mountain mailing address does not always mean DeKalb, though. Some neighborhoods with Stone Mountain addresses sit in Gwinnett County, where a current rabies tag is required for every dog. If you are not sure, check which county you pay property taxes to.
Stone Mountain Park with a dog: the rules that matter
Stone Mountain Park is the obvious place you will want to take a dog someday, and it does welcome leashed dogs in many areas. The park’s posted rules are specific:
- Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, and you must pick up after them.
- Pets are not allowed on the attractions, the Memorial Lawn, the Songbird Habitat and trails, at special events, or anywhere posted.
- The Stone Mountain Memorial Association lists Cherokee Trail, King’s Trail at Indian Island, the Trail of the Muscogee, the Nature Garden Trail and the connector trails as dogs-on-leash trails. The Songbird and Woodland trails are closed to dogs because of nesting birds.
- The Walk-Up Trail is the confusing one. The association’s hiking page says no dogs, while another official park page says dogs are permitted. Check with the park before you go, and either way, a steep, rocky climb up bare granite is not a first outing for a small puppy.
Vehicles entering the park need a daily or annual parking pass. On warm days, remember that pavement and exposed rock get hot fast and small dogs overheat quickly; our post on keeping a small dog cool in Georgia heat has practical tips.
Most important of all: wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking a young puppy onto busy trails or anywhere lots of dogs pass through.

Common questions
How far is the showroom from Stone Mountain?
About 14 miles from the historic village and up to about 20 miles from other parts of Stone Mountain. Plan on 30 to 40 minutes without traffic.
Can I bring my puppy to Stone Mountain Park?
Leashed dogs are allowed in many parts of the park, on a leash of 6 feet or less, but not on the attractions, the Memorial Lawn, the Songbird and Woodland trails or at special events. Wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations first.
Can my dog climb the Walk-Up Trail?
Official park sources disagree on whether dogs are allowed, so confirm with the park before you go. It is a steep, rocky climb and not suitable for a young puppy in any case.
Do I register my puppy in DeKalb or Gwinnett?
It depends on which county your home is in. DeKalb requires registration within 60 days of a rabies vaccination; Gwinnett requires a current rabies tag.
Can you bring the puppy to Stone Mountain?
No. We do not deliver or meet off site. Puppies go home from our Lawrenceville showroom, the same day or on a scheduled pickup date.
