From Snellville, our Lawrenceville showroom is about 9 miles north up Scenic Hwy, usually 15 to 25 minutes without traffic. That is close enough to stop by after school or on a Saturday, meet small-breed puppies in person, and come back another day if your family wants to think it over.
Getting here from Snellville
This is one of the easiest trips to our showroom. You don’t need an interstate at all.
- From the Snellville city center around Oak Rd, get on GA-124 (Scenic Hwy) heading north toward Lawrenceville.
- Turn onto Sugarloaf Pkwy.
- Turn onto Old Norcross Rd and follow it to the showroom at 1848 Old Norcross Rd.
That is about 9 miles. With light traffic, most people make it in 15 to 20 minutes; give yourself up to 25.
The catch is that Scenic Hwy and Sugarloaf Pkwy carry a lot of local traffic, especially around school drop-off and pickup and the evening commute. Our showroom opens at noon on weekdays, and late morning into early afternoon is usually the smoothest window. If you are coming after work, Monday to Saturday hours run until 7 PM. Sunday hours are 2 to 6 PM.
Why being this close helps
When the showroom is a short drive away, you can take your time with the decision instead of rushing it.
- Come more than once. Bring the kids on a weekday afternoon, then bring Grandma on Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome during showroom hours, and booking a visit is optional.
- Watch how a puppy acts with your family. Every puppy spends time in our family’s home nursery first, with children, adults and other pets, so you can see how it handles a busy household. Our family-friendly puppies page is a good place to start if you have young children.
- Health questions get real answers. Our on-staff veterinarian gives every puppy a complete health check, and puppies are up to date on shots. You can ask about any puppy you are considering.
- Grooming without a long drive. We offer grooming services, and being 20 minutes away makes it easy to come back.
Browse puppies by breed before you come so you have a short list.
Bringing a puppy home to Snellville
Rabies tags for every dog, even indoor ones
Snellville is in Gwinnett County. The point Gwinnett’s Animal Welfare office makes most strongly is that it requires a current rabies tag for all cats and dogs, and that indoor pets need to stay current on their rabies vaccination too. Owners of small dogs that rarely go outside sometimes assume this doesn’t apply to them. It does. Your veterinarian will schedule your puppy’s rabies shot when it is old enough.
Gwinnett’s ordinance also makes it unlawful for an owner to fail to keep a dog under restraint or control, so a leash is part of every walk. We cover the rest in new puppy rules in Gwinnett County.
Parks in and around Snellville
- Lenora Park (Lenora Church Rd, Snellville) is a Gwinnett County park with a dog park area and a 1.5-mile paved trail. The dog park area is at the recreation center entrance, 4515 Lenora Church Rd.
- T.W. Briscoe Park (Sawyer Pkwy) is the City of Snellville’s largest park, with a walking path and a lake. It is a good place for a short leashed walk once your puppy is ready; check the city’s posted park rules on pets first.
- Ronald Reagan Park (Five Forks Trickum Rd), just north of Snellville toward Lawrenceville, is a Gwinnett County park with a dog park area, a pond and a short paved trail.
In Gwinnett County parks, dogs must be leashed everywhere except designated dog park areas, and dogs in the dog park must wear a current rabies tag. That last rule means a very young puppy isn’t ready yet anyway. Please wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking your puppy to a dog park or anywhere many dogs visit.
