From Sandy Springs, the showroom at 1848 Old Norcross Rd in Lawrenceville is about 22 miles away: east on I-285, north on I-85, then Hwy 316. With clear roads that is roughly 30 to 40 minutes. Pick your hour well and you get an unhurried visit with small-breed puppies, a chance to ask questions face to face, and the option to bring your puppy home that day.
Getting here from Sandy Springs
If you live or work in Sandy Springs, you already know the road that decides this trip: the top end of I-285. The route is short on paper.
- From City Springs, take Roswell Road (GA-9) to I-285 East.
- Ride the Perimeter east for about 7 miles, past Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
- Take exit 33B to I-85 North, then exit 106 for GA-316 East toward Lawrenceville.
- Exit at Sugarloaf Parkway, then follow Cruse Road to Old Norcross Road.
That works out to about 22 miles and, with no traffic, roughly 30 to 40 minutes. The catch is the two stretches in the middle. The top end of I-285 near the Perimeter Center exits is one of the busiest pieces of road in Metro Atlanta, and the I-285/I-85 interchange known as Spaghetti Junction is a famous bottleneck. At peak commute times the same trip can run an hour or longer.
Timing the trip around the Perimeter
| When you leave | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Weekday, late morning | Usually the easiest window. Leave around 11:15 and you arrive close to our noon opening. |
| Weekday, early afternoon | Still a good choice, with plenty of showroom time before evening traffic builds. |
| Weekday, 4 to 7 PM | Hardest. Both I-285 and I-85 are at their slowest. If this is your only option, give yourself extra time and stay for a while once you are here. |
| Saturday or Sunday | Generally lighter. We are open Saturday 12–7 PM and Sunday 2–6 PM. |
These are general patterns, not promises. Check live traffic before you leave, since a single crash on the Perimeter can change everything.
Why the trip is worth the time
Deciding on a puppy over a lunch break, from a screen, is hard. A short visit fixes that. You can hold a puppy, watch how it reacts to a new person, and see the difference between two breeds you have been going back and forth on.
Our puppies are small purebred and designer breeds from trusted local Georgia breeders. Before any puppy joins the showroom, it spends time in our family’s home nursery, where it meets children, adults and other pets. Our on-staff veterinarian gives each one a complete health check, and every puppy is up to date on shots. To read more about why that matters, see our post on vet-supervised puppy buying in Georgia.
If your household runs on a busy schedule, two guides may help you narrow things down: calm puppies and low-shedding puppies. No dog is truly hypoallergenic, but some coats shed far less than others.
Bringing a puppy home to Sandy Springs
City and county rules
Sandy Springs is in Fulton County, and the city points residents to Fulton County Animal Services for pet licensing and for complaints about domestic animals. According to the city, owners must license dogs and cats over four months old, and Fulton County’s licensing application asks for a copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate. Your veterinarian will tell you when the rabies shot is due.
Other city rules worth knowing:
- Outdoors, a dog must be inside a fence, wall or other enclosure, or on a leash no longer than six feet.
- Owners must pick up and properly dispose of pet waste on sidewalks, streets, parks and other public property.
- Keeping four or more dogs over four months old on a property for 14 days or longer counts as a kennel and needs a city kennel permit. That matters if a new puppy would make dog number four.
Parks for later
The city says most of its parks allow leashed dogs, as long as owners clean up. For off-leash play, Morgan Falls Dog Park at 100 Morgan Falls Road sits along the Chattahoochee River and has two fenced areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. The park was renovated in 2026, with new shade structures, grass and a dog washing station, and was set to reopen in mid-October 2026. Check the city’s parks page to confirm it is open and for current hours.
Before any of that, wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking a young puppy to a dog park or other places many dogs visit. For the first weeks, your yard and quiet sidewalks are plenty. Our guide to your puppy’s first night home covers what comes first.
What to know before you visit
- No appointment is required. Walk in during showroom hours, or book a visit if a set time fits your day better.
- Puppies go home the same day or on a later pickup date you schedule, which is handy if you would rather pick up on a lighter traffic day.
- We do not deliver or meet off site. Your visit and your pickup both happen at the showroom.
- Holds require a deposit. See deposits, holds and pickup for how it works.
