From downtown Loganville, our Lawrenceville showroom is about 14 to 15 miles north-west, usually 25 to 35 minutes by US-78 and Grayson Hwy when traffic cooperates. It is far enough to plan around, close enough for an afternoon visit to meet small-breed puppies in person before you commit.
Getting here from Loganville
There are two sensible ways to come, and both end on Grayson Hwy.
By US-78 and Grayson Pkwy
- From downtown, head west on US-78 (Atlanta Hwy) toward Grayson.
- Pick up Grayson Pkwy (GA-84) north into Grayson, then turn onto Grayson Hwy (GA-20) toward Lawrenceville.
- Turn onto Sugarloaf Pkwy, then Old Norcross Rd to 1848 Old Norcross Rd.
This is the route mapping tools tend to pick: about 14.5 miles, around 25 minutes with no traffic. Allow 25 to 35.
By GA-20 the whole way
If US-78 is jammed, GA-20 leaves Loganville to the north-west as Loganville Hwy and becomes Grayson Hwy, so you can stay on it until Sugarloaf Pkwy. It has more lights and is usually a little slower, but it is a simple, single-road drive.
US-78 through Loganville and Grayson is heavy during the weekday commute and on weekend shopping afternoons, and Grayson Hwy slows near Lawrenceville at rush hour. Leaving around noon on a weekday, when we open, is usually the smoothest trip. If you can only come on a weekend, Saturday hours run noon to 7 PM and Sunday 2 to 6 PM.
Is the drive worth it?
That depends on what you want to see before you bring a dog home for the next decade or more. Here is what you can check in person at our showroom:
- Where the puppy has been. Our puppies are small purebred and designer breeds from trusted local Georgia breeders, and each one spends time in our family’s home nursery before coming to the showroom. Children, adults and other pets are part of that daily routine.
- Who has examined it. We have a veterinarian on staff who gives every puppy a complete health check, and each puppy is up to date on shots. You can ask about the exam and the shot record for any puppy you hold.
- How it fits your life. A calm lap dog and a busy little explorer can look alike in photos. If you want a quieter companion, our calm puppies page is a useful starting point; for homes with kids, see family-friendly puppies.
Before you leave home, look through our puppies by breed. If a breed you want isn’t in the showroom, our puppy waitlist is the place to ask.
Bringing a puppy home to Loganville
Check which county you live in first
Most of Loganville is in Walton County, with a smaller part in Gwinnett County, so start by checking which side your address is on. Walton County’s animal ordinance sets a clear timeline new owners should know:
- First rabies shot by four months. Dogs four months of age or older must be vaccinated against rabies.
- A second shot within the year. The ordinance calls for revaccination within 10 to 12 months of the first known vaccination. Put a reminder in your calendar the day your vet gives the first shot.
- A tag on the collar. Your vet issues a numbered rabies tag, and your dog is required to wear the current one on its collar or harness.
- A real collar or harness. The ordinance does not count rope, cable, chain or wire as a proper collar or harness.
- No roaming. Dogs may not be at large; off your property, a leash attached to a proper collar or harness is how you keep your puppy under restraint.
Your veterinarian sets your puppy’s actual vaccine schedule. If your home is on the Gwinnett side, our guide to Gwinnett County rules for new puppy owners applies instead. The City of Loganville may have its own rules as well, so it is worth a quick call to City Hall.
Parks for leash walks later on
- Bay Creek Park on Ozora Rd is a Gwinnett County park with a Loganville address. It has a 1-mile paved trail and a lighted walking track; dogs must be leashed, kept to the right on the trail, and kept off the playgrounds.
- Loganville Town Green on Main St, the city’s downtown gathering space with a covered pavilion, is an easy spot for short walks to get a puppy used to people and noise. Check the city’s posted rules for pets before you go.
Please wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking a young puppy to a dog park or other places where many dogs visit. Georgia summers are hard on small dogs too; our post on keeping a small dog cool in Georgia heat covers the basics.
What to know before you visit
- No appointment required. Walk in during showroom hours or book a visit, whichever suits you.
- Same day or later. Puppies go home the day you choose them or on a pickup date we schedule together, which helps if you want a weekend to get ready.
- You come to us. We don’t deliver to Loganville or meet off site, so pickup is always at the showroom.
- Deposit to hold. We hold a puppy only with a deposit; read how reserving a puppy works.
