Dunwoody is one of the closer towns on the north side of the Perimeter to our showroom at 1848 Old Norcross Rd in Lawrenceville. It is about 20 miles away by I-285 East, I-85 North and Hwy 316, or roughly 25 to 35 minutes when traffic is light. Bring the whole family: walk in, meet small-breed puppies together, and see which one your kids keep coming back to.
Getting here from Dunwoody
From Dunwoody Village, head south on Chamblee Dunwoody Road and take North Shallowford Road to I-285 East. You are only on the Perimeter for about two miles before exit 33B puts you on I-85 North. From there, take exit 106 to GA-316 East toward Lawrenceville, get off at Sugarloaf Parkway, and follow Cruse Road to Old Norcross Road.
That is about 20 miles. With light traffic, expect 25 to 35 minutes. The tricky part is the I-285/I-85 interchange, Spaghetti Junction, which backs up badly at rush hour and can push the trip past an hour. If you live near Perimeter Center or the Georgetown side, your starting point shifts a little, but the route is the same once you reach I-285.
For a family outing, weekends are often the simplest choice: we are open Saturday 12–7 PM and Sunday 2–6 PM. On a school holiday or a weekday, arriving shortly after our noon opening is a good way to miss the commute.
Why come as a family
Choosing a puppy is a family decision, and it is a lot easier when everyone can be in the room. Kids get to meet puppies calmly, with our team nearby, and parents can see how a puppy responds to small hands and a bit of excitement.
That is also something our puppies are used to. Before joining the showroom, every puppy spends time in our family’s home nursery, where it is socialized with children, adults and other pets. Our on-staff veterinarian gives every puppy a complete health check, and puppies are up to date on shots. We offer small purebred and designer-breed puppies from trusted local Georgia breeders.

Bringing a puppy home to Dunwoody
DeKalb County rules
Dunwoody is in DeKalb County. DeKalb County Animal Services says dogs must be vaccinated against rabies as required by law, kept properly contained or leashed, and not allowed to roam. The county also asks owners to register and license their pets, with registration due within 60 days of a rabies vaccination or of getting a new pet that needs one. Registered pets must have a current rabies vaccination given by a licensed veterinarian, and owners should keep proof of vaccination. Your vet will tell you when your puppy’s rabies shot is due.
Brook Run Park, for the whole family
Brook Run Park at 4770 North Peachtree Road is Dunwoody’s largest park, at 110 acres, and it has something for everyone in the house. The playground has shaded play areas split by age for toddlers and older kids, and a multi-use loop trail, part of the Dunwoody Trailway, circles the park.
The park also has a fenced dog park of about two wooded acres for off-leash play, with double-gated entries, open from 7 AM to sunset. The city reminds visitors that dogs must be leashed everywhere outside the dog park fence, including the walk from the car to the gate.
One important note for families: wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking a young puppy to the dog park or other places many dogs visit. When your vet says it is fine, a slow, leashed walk on the trail makes a good first outing.
The first weeks at home
Kids are usually the most excited people in the house, so a few house rules help: quiet time for naps, gentle handling, and one adult in charge of feeding. Our posts on preparing your home and flea, tick and heartworm prevention in Georgia are good to read together before pickup day. Once your puppy is settled, we also offer grooming.
What to know before you visit
