Our showroom is in Lawrenceville, about 22 to 27 miles southeast of downtown Cumming depending on the road you take, or roughly 35 to 50 minutes in light traffic. Make the drive and you can hold the puppies, see how each one behaves, and meet the family behind the showroom before you decide, with every puppy already health-checked by our on-staff veterinarian.
Getting here from Cumming
There is no single straight road from Cumming to our showroom at 1848 Old Norcross Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30044, so the best route depends on where you start and what time it is. All three of the realistic options below end the same way: off Sugarloaf Parkway near Hwy 316, onto Cruse Road, then a short stretch of Old Norcross Road.
| Route from the Cumming square | Roads | About how far |
|---|---|---|
| Back roads to I-85 | GA-20 east, Suwanee Dam Rd, Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd (GA-317) to I-85 south, then Sugarloaf Pkwy | 22 miles |
| GA-400 and Peachtree Pkwy | GA-400 south to Peachtree Pkwy (GA-141), through Johns Creek, then east on Abbotts Bridge Rd (GA-120) toward Duluth and Lawrenceville | 24 miles |
| GA-20 the whole way | GA-20 east through Sugar Hill to I-85 south, then Sugarloaf Pkwy | 27 miles |
In light traffic, any of these runs about 35 to 50 minutes. At rush hour, GA-400 south and I-85 south through Gwinnett can slow down badly, and the surface roads fill up near school times too. If you live on the south side of Forsyth, near McGinnis Ferry or Windermere, the GA-400 and Peachtree Parkway route often feels more natural; from north of the square or near Lake Lanier, GA-20 east is usually simpler.
The easiest window is often midday. The showroom opens at noon Monday through Saturday, so leaving Cumming around 11:30 tends to miss both the morning and evening crush.
Why it is worth the trip from Forsyth County
A photo tells you color and size. It does not tell you whether a puppy climbs into your lap or watches from the corner, or how your kids and the puppy react to each other. That is the main reason to come in person.
Every puppy here comes from trusted local Georgia breeders and spends time in our family’s home nursery before joining the showroom, so they are used to children, adults and other pets. Our on-staff veterinarian gives each one a complete health check, and puppies are kept up to date on shots. You can see all of that for yourself instead of taking it on faith, which is also the best protection against online scams. Our guide on avoiding small-breed puppy scams explains what to watch for.
If you are still choosing a breed, browse available puppies by breed before you leave, or start with our low-shedding breeds. No dog is truly hypoallergenic, but some shed far less than others.
Bringing a puppy home to Cumming
Cumming is the county seat of Forsyth County, and Forsyth County Animal Services handles pet rules here. A few things new owners should know:
- Keep your dog under control off your property. Forsyth County says animals must be under some form of control whenever they are off their owner’s property.
- Rabies vaccination comes with county paperwork. Animal Services collects a rabies vaccine fee for pets in the county and mails a letter when the shot was given by a vet outside Forsyth. It also posts an annual registration form, so ask them which forms apply to your puppy.
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation runs four dog parks, and each one has separate large-dog and small-dog areas, which is a real plus for a little puppy:
- Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way, Cumming.
- Windermere Park, 3355 Windermere Parkway, Cumming, convenient for south Forsyth.
- Caney Creek Preserve, 2755 Caney Road, Cumming.
- Coal Mountain Dog Park, 4060 County Way, Cumming. It closes from 7 AM to 1 PM on the first Thursday of each month for cleaning.
Please wait for your veterinarian’s OK on vaccinations before taking a young puppy to a dog park or anywhere lots of dogs visit. Until then, your own yard and short leash walks are the safer choice. Our post on flea, tick and heartworm prevention in Georgia covers what to ask your vet about in those first weeks.

Common questions
How long is the drive from Cumming to the showroom?
Plan on about 35 to 50 minutes in light traffic, covering roughly 22 to 27 miles depending on whether you take back roads to I-85, GA-400 and Peachtree Parkway, or GA-20. Rush hour on GA-400 and I-85 can add a lot more.
Can you bring a puppy to us in Cumming?
No. We do not deliver or meet off site. Every family comes to the Lawrenceville showroom, which is also how you get to meet the puppy first.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome during showroom hours. You can book a visit if you prefer a set time.
Can I meet a puppy now and bring it home later?
Yes. Puppies go home the same day or on a scheduled pickup date, and a deposit holds your puppy until then.
When can my new puppy go to a Forsyth County dog park?
Only after your veterinarian says its vaccinations are far enough along. The county dog parks have small-dog areas, which are a good first stop once your vet gives the OK.
